This is a story that everyone should hear about. Normaly we would write in dutch but for this time we will write in English.

Tibet!

You can say what ever you like about Tibet! For us there is only one word: thanks!

We thank the people, the guide's, the drivers, the Yak hotel owner, and all of the native Tibetain peole for showing us a country that is taken away from the people who have build it. In every eye you can see the pain and struggle they have every day in there lives, because they can't be or live the life the wan't to live.

Then why go there? Because we want to see what is hapening in one of the worlds most beautifull country's on earth, and to tell others in our own country, why they should visit Tibet so that maby we all can make a differience there, against the occupation of the Chinese people.

Their culture and way of live is so simple but then again so beatifull.

We arrived by train crossing some of the hardest terrain into lhasa. We were welcomed by our guide Doma with a white silk scarve to wish us a save journey, at that time we didn't know we needed it. The first days we spend visiting the different monastary's around Lhasa, one of the best and must see is the jhokan temple in the old town of lhasa. Around the temple pelgrims visit from around the country praying on the ground with every step they take.

After lhasa we went on a journey from lhasa to zhangmu, crossing to passes at 5200 meters. The landscape is one of the reasons you should go to Tibet.

The next day our driver took us for a 12 hour drive to Everest Base Camp. Because of the weather we couldn't see everest but the journey was well worth it, also was sleeping in the local Yak tent.

The last day we crossed the border tot Nepal. Thats were the journey went from wow to o no!

We saw on the news of the mud slide in Nepal just when we arrived at the border. There we were told that there was no way to go to khatmandu and that we would have to wait untill the road was cleared or we could walk for 2 hours over the mud slide. Of course we were a bit worried so we tryed to contact our consulate in Nepal. That failed so we didn't knew what to do. The good thing was that we were travelling with two french people (alex and philippe) so with the 4 of us we tried to go away from the border by helicopter. At first everything looked oke. There were nepali people wating at the boarder and picked us up to take us to the helicopter platform. There we had to wait with others to fly out to khatmandu.

Where there are problems in the world there ar people who take advantanche of the situation. We've seen today the worst people ever, and the best people ever! Because after 8 hours of waiting the nepali guide who was trying to help us, left and let us behind with nothing. We had no money, no helicopter and we were stuck there knowing that we couldn't get out. But then there are the people who do care and saw that we were in trouble. They gave us the extra money to get out of there. Sometimes in live there are still people who care, and will help others in need. Those people are the real hero's. Those people will help a stranger in need. Those are the one's we should thank and pray to every day!
